FALCON 1 ROCKET RECOVERY FOR SPACE X

SCOPE OF WORK
C&W assisted Space X in developing and testing
recovery procedure for the outer space launch vehicle,
Falcon 1. C&W provided vessel support and surface
swimmers during a simulated recovery of the Falcon 1
off-shore of San Diego. Space X was able to assess the
viability of the system and procedure for use off the
Kwajalein Atoll. C&W swimmers are scheduled to assist
Space X off the Kwajalein Atoll during the maiden launch
of the Falcon 1 on an undisclosed date.

NIMBUS DAM RADIAL GATE REPAIRS

SCOPE OF WORK
C&W is replacing the radial gate lifting hardware and
watertight seals on 18 tainter gates used to control
water flow. Articulating submersible bulkheads composed
of eleven caissons are first assembled and installed in
order to dewater the 18 individual bays. The lifting
hardware and old seals on the tainter gates are then
removed and replaced. Additionally, C&W is installing
ladders and handrails on the concrete platforms joining
these bays. C&W is also assisting in the development of
future bulkhead installation procedures.

SAN FRANCISCO/OAKLAND BAY BRIDGE SELF-ANCHORED
SUSPENSION (SAS) PROJECT

SCOPE OF WORK
C&W Diving was contracted to provide crew boat and
tugboat services in support of American Bridge/Fluor’s
(AB/F) construction of the SAS portion of the new
bridge.
REQUIREMENTS
A fleet of five crew boats and three tugboats work
daily to move floating derricks, barges, and personnel
to and from the project site. Our crew boats, ranging
from 38’ to 55’ in length, are USCG inspected and
certified to carry 30 to 49 passengers plus deck cargo,
Our tugboats were built and maintained to pick anchors
and move barges and equipment in a safe and efficient
manner. To date, C&W has maintained a zero incident
safety record that is without precedent on any other
Caltrans bridge seismic retrofit project.

TITAN MARINE EMERGENCY MOBILIZATION

SCOPE OF WORK
C&W responded to a same-day emergency request to
assist a Titan Marine vessel four miles off the coast of
San Diego, CA. Within four hours of initial
notification, a surface supplied dive crew with
underwater burning capabilities was mobilized and
dispatched to the scene. The dive team completed their
operations by the end of the day, enabling both crews
and vessels to return safely.

REPLACEMENT OF DETERIORATED LANDWARD OUTFALL
San Clemente Island, CA

SCOPE OF WORK
C&W Diving Services, Inc. mobilized an LCM-8 and
Fly-Away Deep Diving Air System to San Clemente Island.
C&W installed a 160-foot long HDPE surf-zone section and
a 320-foot deep-water zone section. The surf-zone
section was a single 4-inch inside and 8-inch HDPE. The
annulas was grouted and anchored in place. The
deep-water section consisted of eight 40-foot flanged
sections. The deep-water outfall was anchored using
concrete ballast weights. The operation was successfully
completed with minimal impact to the environment.
